How to Use Substack Explorer

How do I get started?

Getting started is simple:

1. Sign up for an account

2. Enter keywords or topics you're interested in

3. Discover relevant newsletters

4. Save your favorites (premium)

5. Track keywords of interest (premium)

How do keyword searches work?

Our keyword search results come directly from Substack's API and are not modified by Substack Explorer. Based on previous experience:

• Single keywords (e.g., "crypto") tend to give more accurate results than phrases

• Premium users can perform advanced analysis by combining multiple keywords using union (OR) and intersection (AND) operations

What are outbound and inbound requests?

Outbound requests are when your input keywords do not exist in our database and we are sending requests to the Substack API to retrieve them.

Inbound requests are when your search keywords exist in our database and we are retrieving newsletters from our database. These are unlimited for all users.

Why are users not able to perform outbound searches?

This limit helps us maintain a sustainable and reliable service for all users. Outbound searches require direct calls to Substack's API and consume significant server resources. By managing these requests, we:

• Ensure fair usage of Substack's API

• Maintain fast response times for all users

• Keep our database fresh and efficient

• Prevent automated scraping

What if I want to add a keyword or newsletter to the database?

You can reach us through the Contact page, we will add it to the database within 48 hours.

How can I get support?

You can reach us through the Contact page with any questions or issues. Premium users receive priority support.
